The cold weather doesn’t stop Buenos Aires from offering plenty of highlights, from watching a lunar eclipse and discovering new movies at the La Mujer y el Cine film festival to enjoying delicious ramen and fainá, pairing meats with wine, and catching live performances by pop, tango and electronic artists.

Moon eclipse at the Planetarium

Astronomy buffs will be pleased to know that the Buenos Aires Galileo Galilei Planetarium is ready for the most significant lunar eclipse of the year. During the night from Thursday into Friday, August 28, it will feature telescope viewing, presentations by science communicators, an open radio broadcast, and projection mapping on the esplanade to accompany the phenomenon.

Over five days, the 38th edition of film festival La Mujer y el Cine returns to Buenos Aires with the goal of highlighting, promoting, and supporting the work of women in filmmaking and leadership roles within the film industry.
It takes over five venues across the city: DAC (Vera 559, Villa Crespo), Universidad del Cine (San Telmo), MALBA (Av. Presidente Figueroa Alcorta 3415), Amigos del Bellas Artes (Av. Presidente Figueroa Alcorta 2270), and Atlas Patio Bullrich (Av. del Libertador 750).
Discover films and artists with a program that embraces the new and the unexpected, as well as perspectives that push the boundaries of contemporary cinema.
Among the highlights, on Thursday, August 27, MALBA will host the Argentine premiere of Two People Exchanging Saliva, the 2026 Oscar-winning short, with its producer Violeta Kreimer in attendance.
On Friday, August 28, Atlas Patio Bullrich will present the exclusive Argentine premiere of Dance Around the Self, a portrait of writer Siri Hustvedt that competed at the 2026 Berlinale.
On Saturday, August 29, Universidad del Cine will offer a masterclass on sound mixing led by Goya Award winner Yasmina Praderas Ramírez, while Amigos del Bellas Artes will screen Lotte Reiniger’s The Adventures of Prince Achmed with live musical accompaniment.

Fainá Day at Donnet

This renowned vegan restaurant in the heart of Chacarita is paradise for mushroom lovers.
This Thursday, it celebrates Fainá Day with a fermented version of the inseparable companion to pizza, made from chickpeas following the traditional method passed down through generations since the Genoese immigration, always golden and crisp around the edges and tender in the center.
The restaurant will also offer special varieties and 2-for-1 promotions for the occasion.

Finca Bandini at Fogón

Chef Sebastián Cardamoni and Elisabeth “The Meat Sommelier” G. Iborra welcome winemakers Finca Bandini for an experience focused on meat, wine, and sensory analysis.
The menu with the winery explores different dimensions of what defines the identity and flavor of meat: preservation, diet, genetics, time, and fire. Each will be represented by a dish and paired with a selection of wines, exploring how origin, raising methods, maturation, and cooking techniques transform the product.
The journey will begin with preservation, represented by a Wagyu Angus cecina served with roasted tomatoes and a cracker. It will then move on to diet, represented by a 100% grass-fed steak and a 100% grain-fed steak, served with Angus-fat fries.
Genetics will take center stage in a Wagyu Angus marucha with grilled Brussels sprouts, while time will be represented by a steak from an older cow with shallots and portobello mushrooms, a preparation that highlights the effect of maturation.
Finally, fire, the central element of Fogón’s cuisine, will make its way into dessert with a burnt crêpe, mandarin, and blue cheese ice cream. Cost: AR$ 160,000
International Ramen Day
After World War II, ramen became an inexpensive meal that was particularly well suited to times of scarcity and poverty. Today, it is a global icon of Japanese cuisine, and this year is being celebrated twice in Buenos Aires.
This weekend, from August 28 to 30, from noon to 4 p.m., Zulu Haus (Salvador Debenedetti 635, La Lucila) will offer a shoyu ramen with soba noodles, a soft-boiled egg, and tonkatsu-glazed pork.
Available off-menu throughout the three days, the set menu includes green beans with sesame oil as a starter, a matcha and white chocolate madeleine for dessert, and a drink of your choice, all for AR$ 30,000.
