Vatican reveals itinerary for Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Argentina in November

Pope Leo XIV will visit Argentina from November 8 to 11, with a four-day itinerary taking him to Buenos Aires City, Claypole and Lujn in Buenos Aires province and Crdoba, the Vatican confirmed Monday.

The trip to Argentina will be part of a regional tour of South America. The pontiff will start in Uruguay (November 6 to 8), then visit Argentina, and end his stay in Peru (November 11 to 17), the country where the American priest worked for nearly two decades.

The 71-year-old Pontiff’s visit to Argentina will include institutional, religious and social activities, including meetings with President Javier Milei, representatives of civil society and the diplomatic corps, religious leaders and working people.

He will also hold three public masses in Buenos Aires City, Crdoba and Lujn.

Sunday, Nov. 8: arrival in Buenos Aires Leo XIV will arrive at Jorge Newbery Airport at 4:30 p.m. from Montevideo.

His first day in Argentina will focus on institutional activities. At 5 p.m., he will visit the Monument to General Jos de San Martn and the Armies of Independence in Plaza San Martn.

At 5:20 p.m., he will attend an official welcome ceremony at the presidential palace, the Casa Rosada, followed by a meeting with Milei at 5:50 p.m.

The Pope will then travel to Palacio Libertad, where at 6:30 p.m. he will meet with government officials, civil society representatives and members of the diplomatic corps.

Monday, Nov. 9: Cottolengo, mass and interfaith meeting The second day will combine social, religious and labor-related activities.

At 9:15 a.m., Leo XIV will visit workers and residents at the Pequeo Cottolengo Don Orione in Claypole, a long-standing institution providing comprehensive care for people with disabilities, located in the Almirante Brown district of Buenos Aires Province.

At 11:30 a.m., he will celebrate mass at the Monument to the Spaniards.

The Holy Father will then attend a 4:10 p.m. meeting with representatives of the world of work at the Catholic University of Argentina (UCA, in Spanish).

At 5:30 p.m., he will meet leaders of Christian communities and other religious traditions at Palacio San Martn, the ceremonial headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship (the Foreign Ministry).

The day will conclude with vespers at Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral at 6:45 p.m., followed by dinner with Argentine bishops at the Archbishop’s Residence at 7:45 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 10: Crdoba and a vigil with young people Leo XIV will travel to the central province of Crdoba early Tuesday, departing Buenos Aires at 7:30 a.m. and arriving at Crdoba International Airport at 9 a.m.

At 10 a.m., he will celebrate mass on the grounds of the Military Aviation School.

At 3:15 p.m., he will meet with bishops, priests, deacons, religious men and women, seminarians and pastoral workers.

He will return to Buenos Aires on a 4:55 p.m. flight, arriving at Jorge Newbery Airport at 6:10 p.m.

At 8:15 p.m., he will lead a vigil with young people at the Monument to the Spaniards.

Wednesday, Nov. 11: prison visit, Lujn mass and departure Leo XIV will begin his final day in Argentina with a visit to the Buenos Aires Federal Penitentiary Complex at 8 a.m.

At 10 a.m., he will celebrate mass in the square in front of the Basilica of Our Lady of Lujn, the most important religious pilgrimage center in Argentina.

The Holy Father will then travel to Ezeiza, where an official farewell ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. His plane to Lima will depart at 2 p.m.

The Argentine leg will mark the middle portion of Leo XIV’s South American journey, which, according to the official itinerary, will also take him to Montevideo, Paysand, Florida, Lima, Chiclayo, Cuzco and Pucallpa.
