Get Out! Art, asado, Negronis and notable bars

La Boca turns into an art circuit, Palermo gets a double dose of Argentine classics, and Buenos Aires’ historic bars throw a citywide party this week. There’s also a Korean holiday celebration, a cultural industries festival at Palacio Libertad, and a four-day lineup of music, including Lali in River and pop guru Daniel Melero. 

Cocktail lovers can raise a Negroni at Punto Mona, while foodies have Tucumán-style milanesa sandwiches, collaborative wine dinners and plenty of asado and empanadas to choose from. Add a botanical fair and an array of negronis, and there’s little reason to stay home.

La Boca turns into an open-air art circuit this Saturday, as museums, galleries, foundations, and artists’ residences join forces for an afternoon of exhibitions, installations, and activities. Free shuttles will run between participating venues from noon to 6 p.m., allowing visitors to hop on and off and build their own route through the neighborhood. 

Participants include Fundación Proa, Fundación Andreani, Fundación Santander, Fundación Larivière, Museo MARCO, Museo del Cine, Museo Histórico La Boca, PROA21, Ungallery, La Verdi, Colón Fábrica and CIFA, among others. 

No registration is required — just show up and start exploring.

The Jardín Botánico Carlos Thays hosts the 11th edition of Feria del Botánico, with roses, orchids, succulents, carnivorous plants and seeds grown on-site for visitors to take home. Browse stands selling gardening books, soil, pots and decorative objects, alongside workshops, talks, and family activities. In case of rain, the fair will move to Oct. 3–4.

Argentina’s cultural industries fest Sept. 24–27

The second edition of Argentina’s Cultural Industries Month (MICA) wraps up with more than 60 activities spanning 15 sectors, including visual arts, film, dance, design, publishing, gastronomy, music, tango, theater, and video games. 

A cultural industries fair, MICA includes Una joyita, which brings more than 40 artisans from across Argentina and Chile for sales, demonstrations, and meetups. 

From Friday, the esplanade will host the GustAr food fair and a record collectors’ market with vinyl, CDs, cassettes, fanzines and graphic art. A mobile stage will round things out with live rock, pop, tango, cumbia, urban, and Balkan music, plus a tango performance.

Punto Mona is doubling down on the celebrations this week, with Negroni Week followed by the bar’s fourth anniversary and founder Mona Gallosi’s birthday. On Thursday from 8 p.m., the Chacarita bar joins the global Campari-backed cocktail celebration with a special Negroni menu exploring different takes on the classic, plus games and surprises. 

Then on Friday from 11 p.m., Punto Mona will mark its anniversary and Gallosi’s birthday with an after-dinner party of dancing, drinks, and music. DJs El Rana, Carca and Tommy Jacobs will provide the soundtrack, alongside a surprise art intervention and other activities revealed throughout the night. Capacity is limited, so arriving early is recommended.

More than 75 Bares Notables across 25 neighborhoods

More than 75 of Buenos Aires’ historic Notable Bars (“Bares Notables”) will open their doors Thursday for a citywide celebration featuring more than 130 cultural activities. Expect promotions, live music, roaming performances, workshops, guided walks, visual arts exhibitions, talks, and food events, with more than 80 musical performances throughout the night. 

New additions to the city’s official list include Josephina’s Café in Recoleta, Confitería El Greco in Caballito, Bar Conde in Colegiales and Bar-Café La Escuela in Núñez. 

Highlights include Federico Mizrahi Quinteto at Bar Roma, Orquesta del Plata at Confitería La Ideal, Ana María Cores at Bar & Despensa Montecarlo, and Sol Mihanovich at Bar Imperio. 

Walking tours will explore the notable bars, heritage and culinary history of Avenida Callao and the Historic District, while urban circuits will delve into local artists, legends, and neighborhood stories. Pop-up kitchens will bring guest chefs into participating bars, and a vintage car will host a gastro-cultural tour with live music at each stop.

Argentina’s two most iconic comfort foods take center stage this weekend at the Festival del Asado y la Empanada. Held at the Hipódromo de Palermo, the free food festival will bring together more than 35 stands and food trucks serving different takes on grilled meats and empanadas. 

The two-day event is designed for a leisurely lunch, an afternoon bite or a casual dinner with family and friends. Come hungry and expect plenty of Argentine classics, with options to sample different preparations and regional flavors.

Celebrate Chuseok in Buenos Aires Sept. 25–26

Chuseok, one of Korea’s most important traditional holidays, is rooted in giving thanks for the harvest, family reunions, and honoring ancestors. Sometimes described in the West as a Korean Thanksgiving, it has its own traditions and centuries of history. 

In Buenos Aires, Una Canción Coreana, one of the city’s pioneering Korean restaurants and now run by its third generation, will mark Chuseok on Friday and Saturday. Diners will receive complimentary tteok and jeon, while the restaurant will feature a giant full moon for guests to make a wish and bokjumeoni pouches associated with good luck and prosperity.

San Guchero is celebrating four years of bringing Tucumán-style flavor to Buenos Aires with a party on Friday night at their Palermo branch, featuring live music from Verité Jam, followed by a DJ set from Vinilos en la Vereda. 

There’s also a special deal all night: buy-one-get-one-free on the sandwich shop’s signature 20-centimeter milanesa sandwiches, a Tucuman specialty.

Bravado hosts Lagarde and Zonda Sept. 30, 8 p.m.

Bravado, the restaurant of Bodega Del Fin del Mundo and Karas Wines in Vicente López, will welcome Bodega Lagarde and Zonda “Cocina de Paisaje” for the latest edition of its La Mesa Compartida (‘The Shared Table’) dinner series. 

The collaborative menu will spotlight Argentine ingredients, starting with snacks of onion and Manchego tartlet, white chocolate with cauliflower and vinegar, and mushroom, tomato and seaweed. Later courses include asparagus with lemon and hollandaise, escabeche-style fish and an Angus ribeye with spring vegetables. Desserts will feature apples, lime and rosemary, followed by wine-poached pears and Chardonnay sabayon. Each course will be paired with wines from both wineries.
